METRONET Yanchep Rail Extension Project

METRONET Yanchep Rail Extension Project 2019-10-23T01:35:33+00:00

Project Description

The METRONET – Yanchep Rail Extension project will extend the existing Joondalup Line railway a further 14.5km between Butler and Yanchep, with new stations, bus interchanges and park and ride facilities at Alkimos, Eglinton and Yanchep.

Design3 were contracted to produce 3D Revit Models of all three new train stations, and bus interchanges, to facilitate animated 3D visualisation fly throughs of the new northern rail line extension.  This included creating a federated, and georeferenced, 3D model of the entire northern line and stations from various non-compatible Public Transport Authority (PTA) CAD assets, which had been modelled in a range of different software packages, including MicroStation, 12d Model and AutoCAD.  The federated Revit model, which included all three stations accompanying rail lines, adjoining roads and civil topography, was then incorporated into a 3D visualisation software package to produce animated fly through videos, for METRONET stakeholder visualisation, promotion of the project and review of this exciting $520M government project.

The completed visualisation can be viewed via the following link: https://www.metronet.wa.gov.au/projects/yanchep-rail-extension

Cost: $520M
