Project Description

Working with sister company Atelier JV, Design3 performed the role completing Façade Engineering documentation at the design phase for this new medical research facility for Adelaide, with ground breaking proton therapy for cancer patients.

Lead by Architect’s Woods Bagot and Cundal (ESD), Atelier JV worked to develop a Façade design that included a series of varying sun hood sunshade devices attached to the unitised glazed façade panels that were positioned across the façade to respond to the varying solar exposure and sun angles on each aspect of the elevations.   The curved geometry of the façade required the development of a glazing framing system that could also respond to the building shapes.  Design3 worked with AJV to develop an efficient and simple adaptable solution to these design scenarios.

Completing the project with documentation of adapted systems to deal with leaning atrium facades and complex geometry intersections among other façade aspects of the design meant that this project was a very successful design collaboration for all involved.
